Ahead Of Long Weekend, Train Passengers Ride 22 Percent

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia recorded a significant trend of increasing passenger volume ahead of the long weekend or long weekend holiday. In fact, the figure reached 22 percent compared to the previous week.

As is known, there are two national red dates this weekend, namely the Birthday of Pancasila on Thursday, June 1 and the joint leave of Vesak Day on Friday, June 2.

KAI's VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus said the volume of long-distance train customers during the departure period on Wednesday, May 31, sampao, Thursday, June 1, was 196,008 customers. Jumlau was up 22 percent compared to the previous week, Wednesday, May 24 to Thursday, May 25, as many as 160,642 customers.

The favorite routes chosen by the public in the long weekend period are Jakarta-Bandung pp, Jakarta-Yogyakarta pp, Jakarta-Surabaya pp, Bandung-Surabaya pp, and other destinations.

"The number of customer volumes can certainly still change and increase, because ticket bookings are still open, be it online or the purchase of go show tickets 3 hours before departure and the purchase of special tariffs 2 hours before departure," said Joni, Wednesday, May 31.

To accommodate the increasing volume of customers on the long weekend holiday, the total long-distance train trips operated were 1,109 train trips or an average of 222 train trips per day, up 4 percent compared to the previous week, which was an average of 214 train trips per day.

"The addition of train travel is part of KAI's commitment to improve KAI services to customers, especially during high seasons like this long weekend," said Joni.

KAI also appealed to customers to pay attention to the train departure schedule listed on tickets or e-tickets for train departures as of June 1, 2023. This is in line with the implementation of the 2023 GAPEKA (Train Travel Creative) which will start on June 1, 2023.

In addition, KAI continues to remind all customers to get off at the station listed on the ticket. Because, if the customer is found to have deliberately dropped beyond the station listed on the ticket, then the person concerned will be taken down at the nearest station which is likely far from road access

Joni emphasized that the conductor is equipped with the Check Seat Passenger application so that it can find out the identity of the passengers, seats, and ticket relations purchased.

"In providing rail transportation, especially during the long weekend period, KAI ensures that people will be safe, free from congestion on the highway. So that vacation moments with family or friends can be enjoyed by customers comfortably and comfortably," concluded Joni.
