Garuda Will Add 5 Boeing 737 Aircraft In 2023

JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk plans to add five fleets of Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft in 2023. This step is in line with the positive growing business performance.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra said the narrow body aircraft will be gradually available throughout 2023.

"In the early stages, as many as two aircraft are scheduled to be received by Garuda Indonesia in early Quarter III. Meanwhile, the delivery of the other three aircraft is expected to be received in Quarter IV," he told reporters, Wednesday, May 31.

Thus, Irfan hopes that by the end of 2023 the number of Garuda Indonesia fleets will be even stronger, where the company will operate at least 63 fleets to support various flight operational steps.

"Including the network development strategy for several flight routes that are people's preferences," said Irfan.

Previously, it was reported that Garuda Indonesia projected that business performance records would continue to grow consistently and show a positive outlook until the end of 2023. This projection follows an increase in public interest in air travel.

Garuda also estimates that there will be a trend of increasing the number of passengers by 36.45 percent in the third quarter of 2023 when compared to the same period in 2022.

Meanwhile, the estimated transportation of Garuda Indonesia passengers until the third quarter is expected to exceed passenger transportation achievements throughout 2022.

Director of Utamq Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, said that Garuda Indonesia's optimism for performance in 2023 will also be represented through the Company's EBITDA which recorded growth at the end of the First Quarter to 71 million US dollars and positive cash flow positions.

"Where this is supported by the basis of performance continues to be strengthened through a healthier business revenue fund, especially after various comprehensive restructuring efforts carried out in 2022," said Irfan.
