JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) conducted a halt and inspection of the Production Isap Ship (KIP) with the initials P and S in Bangka waters, on Saturday, May 20.

The inspection was carried out because KIP P and S were found to have violated the mining zone.

"From the results of the operation carried out by the team in the field, it was found that the violation of the mining zone by KIP P using the Ponton Isap Production (PIP) and the Keruk S ship, which is a channel support ship for the activities of the Pasir Timah Dredge Ship," said Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (Ditjen PSDKP) Adin Nurawaluddin in a press release, Monday, May 29.

"It is known that the two partner ships from PT T carried out mining operations outside the PKKPRL licensing zone," he added.

Adin said that the termination and examination were the result of surveillance operations carried out by the Special Police (Polsus) for the Management of Coastal and Small Islands (PWP3K) with the authority of the Special Police of PWP3K Batam PSDKP Base, Marine and Fisheries Supervisory Vessel Shark 03, and PELP LSPL Serang Directorate General PRL for granting PKKPRL permits by the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MKP) to PT. T.

"Before being found to have committed a violation on March 8, 2023, PT T was given an Approval document for the Compliance of Marine Spatial Utilization Activities (PKKPRL) by the KKP. Then, we also carried out surveillance operations in the waters to ensure PT. T as a partner of KIP P and S carried out operations in accordance with the permit given," he said.

Furthermore, Adin said, during operations in the field, KIP P was carrying out tin sand mining activities based on the Work Plan (RK) map published by PT T.

However, the coordinate points listed on the map are in fact not in accordance with the coordinate points of the PKKPRL licensing document issued by the KKP.

"Because the points from the RK map of PT T and the PKKPRL permit are not appropriate, during an inspection by the Directorate General of PSDKP and the Directorate General of PRL, the mining activities of the two KIPs are outside the zone," he said.

Based on the results of the examination by the KKP, currently KIP P and S are asked to stop mining operations in locations that are not in accordance with zoning. Meanwhile, the violation committed is a violation of the PKKPRL zone.

The two KIPs were also entangled in Article 113 in conjunction with Article 238 of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Regulation Number 28 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Marine Spatial Planning io article 7 paragraph 2 of the Minister of Marine Affairs Regulation Number 31 of 2021 concerning the Imposition of Administrative Sanctions in the Marine and Fisheries Sector and/or Article 21 paragraph 1 of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Regulation Number 26 of 2021 concerning Prevention of Pollution, Prevention of Damage, Rehabilitation, and Improvement of Fish Resources and Their Environment.

"Currently, the KKP has summoned and examined PT T for clarification as well as verification and further overlay documents on the suitability of mining activities between the PT T ARK map and the PKKPRL document," concluded Adin.
