JAKARTA PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk. (BNI) seeks to spur the growth of digital transactions through optimizing the Foreign Branch Office (KCLN).

Director of Digital & Integrated Transaction Banking BNI Corina Leyla Karnalies said that his party is targeting the acquisition of new customers and increasing the number of existing customers on virtual channels.

"In order to optimize the business ecosystem abroad, BNI continues to develop KCLN, where implementation has been carried out at the London Branch Office. Of course, it will also start in various other KCLN, namely BNI KCLN New York, Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong," he said in a written message on Sunday, May 7.

According to Corina, in the first quarter of 2023, BNI Direct's digital services recorded a positive performance by serving 102,000 customers or growing 32.9 percent year on year (yoy).

This growth also boosted the volume of transactions by 27.3 percent with the number of transactions which also increased by 25.3 percent or reached 203 million transactions.

"The growth occurs as the company's success in capturing the potential acquisition of new customers from changes in people's behavior in the need to manage business seamlessly and borderlessly," he said.

Corina explained that the increase was achieved in line with efforts to maximize the potential of existing customers to explore various cash management transaction solutions offered by the company.

In addition, BNI is also said to increase the exposure of BNI's business ecosystem solutions by expanding coverage not only to customers, but also to the customer's value chain such as suppliers, distributors, and potential merchants.

Furthermore, by expanding the scope of customer derivative businesses, Corina hopes to create a unit of solutions that will produce an inclusive business for BNI.

"We are optimistic that BNIDirect will grow in 2023. This cannot be separated from the potential for digital banking transactions in the national banking landscape which will increase by 28.72 percent year on year in 2022 and is projected to continue to grow positively this year," he said.

Meanwhile, BNI's digital transactions, especially BNI Direct for corporate customers, have continued to show growth in the last 5 years, where the largest growth occurred in 2022 which recorded a 47 percent growth in transaction value on an annual basis.
