JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) projects that the potential for movement of money during the Eid al-Fitr 2023 holiday could reach around IDR 240 trillion.

This is based on the estimated expenditure of tourists during the Eid al-Fitr holidays in previous years and the projection of the number of travelers from the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

"With the assumption that the tourism base for domestic tourists (wisnus) during Eid homecoming for the 2019-2021 period is around Rp. 1.94 million per tax, it is projected that the economic turnover will increase from an initial estimate of Rp. 150 trillion to Rp. 240.1 trillion," said Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno at The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno in Jakarta, Monday, April 17.

Sandiaga said, there are two things that cause the projected economic movement to increase significantly. "It turns out that the cause is in accordance with our strategy, namely the number of longer holidays and relaxation of travel restriction policies," he said.

Even so, he said, his party would continue to anticipate a number of things, such as having to prepare destinations to implement all CHSE protocols as well as security protocols, safety, health protocols, and environmental sustainability.

"We have sent a letter of socialization for increased security and safety, as well as for marine tourists. We have sent the letter to welcome the monitoring of Eid Al-Fitr 2023 and ensure the readiness of destinations, as well as tourist attraction locations for them to get ready," he explained.

That way, continued Sandiaga, the hope is that in the future, there will be an increase in terms of safety protocols, so that what is feared is accidents or buildup can be avoided.

"We are again instructing tourism actors to be careful, pay attention to the safety management system," he concluded.
