JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) is encouraging an increase in the creative economy (ekraf) ecosystem in Sabang City, Aceh, through the 2023 Creative Regency/City (KaTa) program.
Menparekraf Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said, Sabang has rich and unique creative economy potential, especially in the craft and culinary sub-sectors.
Thus, the creative economy ecosystem in Sabang needs to be improved and its quality developed, so that business opportunities and employment can be wider.
"Earlier, we discussed improving the creative economy ecosystem of the craft sub-sector which has been designated as a leading sub-sector in Sabang City, but the enthusiasm of the community is not only in crafts, but also in culinary," Sandiaga said in a written statement quoted Thursday, April 13.
One of the creative products that caught Sandiaga's attention was a processed chocolate product. According to him, the product is worth developing, so it can be a typical Sabang souvenir.
"This can be developed with better packaging, we can offer it as a souvenir not only in Sabang City, but also in Aceh," said Sandiaga.
According to Sandiaga, creative economy products in Sabang need to be developed properly, so they can have large added value, as well as open up business opportunities and employment opportunities.
"I see more opportunities if we strengthen the ecosystem for small and medium scale creative economy actors," he concluded.
