Ambassador Lutfi Encourages Indonesian Food And Beverage Products To Enter The Egyptian Market

The Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Lutfi Rauf has encouraged more Indonesian food and beverage products to enter the Egyptian market, in order to increase the value of exports to the country.

As a promotional effort, Indonesia also opened the Indonesian Pavilion at the Cairo Supermarket Expo trade exhibition which was held at the Nasr City Cairo International Convention & Exhibition Center (CICC) on March 15-21, 2023.

"Through the participation of 13 Indonesian companies in the Supermarket Expo, it is hoped that more and more quality food and beverage products from Indonesia will penetrate the Egyptian market. The diversity of this product is to encourage an increase in the export value of Indonesian products to Egypt," said Ambassador Lutfi in a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo, quoted from Antara, Friday, March 24.

In addition, he said, the existence of Indonesian products can also encourage increased interaction among entrepreneurs and trade cooperation between the two countries.

During the seven days of organizing the exhibition, Indonesia presented a number of companies from various regions including CV Morisama Sejahtera Indonesia 12 with processed products tuna and seafood sauce; CV Coconut International Indonesia with charcoalbriket products, tea nipah, and wood herbs sanrego.

Then, PT Bunly Abadi with superior products of mete beans; CV Luhur Abadi with Toraja coffee dish; CV Elabeaute Kosmetindo Deo Shinko for skin care, armpits & feet, Tetrapreneur Global Gotong Royong Secretariat (G2R) with various iconic products of handicrafts and food and beverages.

Furthermore, PT Andalus Bangun Global with robusta coffee products and Arabica coffee; as well as PT Ameer Mentaya International Corp with sasirangan cloth products, grass bag Purun, leather rattan bags, coal, palm oil, and rice.

The Indonesian Tropical CV company is present to showcase spice products; PT Kans Agro Indonesia with charcoal briquettes, spices, and tobacco; PT Celexport Pammase International with nutmeg and spice products; and PT Ayhaga Coco Indonesia with dried coconut products.

In addition, there is one agent representing the trade of Indonesian companies in Egypt, namely the Egyptian Saudi for Import & Export as an agent of Mayora Indah Tbk that markets instant food and beverage products.

Deputy Head of Indonesian Representatives in Cairo M Aji Surya explained that exports of superior products have become a necessity for MSME business actors.

Indonesian MSMEs are expected to continue to create quality products that have competitiveness so that they can penetrate the Egyptian market, especially during difficult times amid the global economic recession.

In 2022, the exports of the two countries will increase positively by exporting Indonesia's main products to Egypt, including palm oil products and their derivatives, coffee beans products, dry coconuts, wood products, textile products, and processed foods.

Meanwhile, Egypt's main exports to Indonesia include natural gas products, phosphates, dates, potatoes, molasses, and fruits.

The data, according to the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo, shows that Indonesia-Egypt relations in the trade economy are not competing with each other, but complement each other.

Cairo Supermarket Expo is an exhibition of food, beverage products, agricultural and plantation products, household appliances and basic products held during Ramadan and inaugurated by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli accompanied by Egyptian Minister of Logistics and Domestic Trade Ali Moselhi.

The Indonesian Pavilion, which was built in the exhibition, also promotes Indonesian strategic products, natural beauty and tourist attractions, promotion of speech up the world, and promotion of Indonesia as partner of the manufacturing technology exhibition of the Hannover Messe industry and the chairmanship of ASEAN 2023 with a display on broad screen technology.
