Supporting Zakat For The Welfare Of The People, Minister Of PUPR Gets Appreciation From Baznas

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono received an award from the 2023 National Amil Zakat Award (Baznas) with the category of Minister of Zakat Support for the Welfare of the Ummah, this year.

The award was handed over by Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin and received by the Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Ministry of PUPR Mohammad Zainal Fatah in Jakarta.

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin advised to make the Baznas Award 2023 part of efforts to strengthen the foundation of the national zakat ecosystem. This event should not stop at an appreciation event for stakeholders who support and encourage the revival of zakat in the country.

According to him, the recipients of the Baznas Award from officials, community leaders, public figures, scholars, to media circles are none other than the main elements and components or supporters of the zakat ecosystem itself.

"For this reason, the sustainability of the role of the zakat ecosystem must be maintained and used as a role model to be replicated by other parties," said Ma'ruf Amin in his official statement, Thursday, March 23.

He also emphasized that the main components of the zakat ecosystem include the source of zakat or the origin of zakat itself, ranging from the aspects of planning, collection, distribution, to accountability of zakat must be managed professionally and safely.

"The development of a strategy to strengthen the national zakat ecosystem, the potential, strength, and challenges of each component of the zakat ecosystem needs to be mapped carefully. Arrange a strengthening strategy of the zakat ecosystem component, one of which is the competency certification of amil zakat," he said.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Ministry of PUPR Mohammad Zainal Fatah said, in the future, the recipients of the Baznas Award will continue to be role models in improvements.

"Of course this is an honor for us, the citizens of the PUPR ministry, our ministers are one of the inspiring ministers in organizing national zakat," he said.

In addition to Minister Basuki, the 2023 Baznas Award category of the Minister of Zakat Support for Ummat Welfare was also given to the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (Kemenkop UKM), the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polhukam), the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs (Kemenko Perekonomies), the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), and the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag).
