JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) said that the contactless toll transaction system or Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) could reduce traffic jams to more than IDR 4 trillion.

"(Losses of traffic jams) if you use MLFF up to IDR 4.2 trillion, that is with a calculation of 40 toll roads (toll roads) at auction time it is determined," said Head of BPJT Danang Parikesit in Jakarta, Monday, March 20.

Danang said the figure was temporary and did not rule out the possibility of increasing again.

"This segment continues to increase, so the more segments, the greater the benefits we get," he said.

According to him, his party has checked the number of toll roads that will be applied by MLFF from the original 40 to 71 toll roads.

"The auction, right, around last year. So, once again the benefits are getting higher (toll road total), because the initial calculation is only 40 segments that we have calculated, now it is 71 segments," he concluded.

Previously, the BPJT of the Ministry of PUPR had mentioned that there were six toll roads that would be tested by MLFF, including Jagorawi, Jakarta-Cikampek, Dalam City, Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) including Ulujami-Pondok Aren-Serpong, Bali-Mandara, and Balikpapan-Samarinda.

BPJT plans to conduct a trial transition of the contactless non-cash toll transaction system or Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) on June 1, 2023 on the Bali Mandara Toll Road.

The selection of the Bali Mandara Toll Road has gone through a discussion process, considering that this toll road is not too crowded, so it will be easier for supervision to ensure that all systems run well.

With MLFF, the toll transaction system will be faster because users no longer need to stop attaching electronic cards, so as to reduce queues at toll gates. In addition, MLFF makes the operational cost of toll collection more efficient.
