Breast Milk Ready To Boost Environmentally Friendly Cement Production To Support NZE 2050 Achievements

JAKARTA - The national cement industry players fully support the government in realizing the achievement of zero emissions (NZE) in 2050. This commitment is realized through the readiness of the industry in producing various environmentally friendly cement products.

"There is no doubt. This (semen) industry player can even be said to have gone further, by producing a lot of variants of environmentally friendly cement products," said Head of the Indonesian Semen Association (ASI), Lilik Unggul Raharjo, in a discussion entitled Zero Carbon Concrete and Sustainable Built, Tuesday, March 14.

The variant of environmentally friendly cement products refers to the Portland Composite Cement (PCC) cement product, which is claimed to be much more environmentally friendly than ordinary cement products (Ordinary Portland Cement/OPC).

"In the past, we only knew the APC type of cement (product). Now, people just have to choose, because there are many choices of PCC products available in the market," said Lilik.

The enthusiasm of cement industry players in producing environmentally friendly products, Lilik explained, because it was driven by several things. One of them is that the production process of environmentally friendly types of cement can encourage a number of efficiency, which is certainly more profitable for the company.

This reason also denies the assumption by some that the environmentally friendly cement production process requires more expensive operational costs.

"Yes, maybe at the beginning (it felt expensive), but over all there is still a number of efficiency that makes a profit for (the perpetrators) of the industry. So don't worry. Even without any encouragement, the direction (development) of the industry is indeed heading there (environmental lectures)," said Lilik.
