JAKARTA - PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) plans to install chips in subsidized fertilizer sacks. This step was taken by the company to overcome misappropriation of subsidized fertilizers.

SPV Corporate Secretary of Pupuk Indonesia Wijaya Laksana said that with this chip the company can track the movement of subsidized fertilizers.

What we are also preparing but we have not implemented it for one reason or another, namely tracking system in sacks. We put it in our sacks there is a chip. Not a chip, a kind of chip in each sack. Later it can be used for tracking goods," he said at the Ministry of SOEs, Jakarta, Monday, March 13.

Regarding this plan, Wijaya hopes to be implemented immediately. Given, based on the results of the investigation, there is still misappropriation of subsidized fertilizers. In fact, his party has conducted trials related to this plan.

"Trial took a long time, real time put the sacks in there and the test was removed or faded. We are developing it," he said.

Regarding the misappropriation of subsidized fertilizers, Wijaya said that if there is a misappropriation at the distributor or kiosk level, it will be easy to track. Because, still in control of PT Pupuk Indonesia.

"If the distributor is naughty, please report it. We will check, if it is naughty, we will fire it," he explained.

According to Wijaya, the problem is when the subdition fertilizer has come out of the kiosk. Because, when the fertilizer has come out, PT Pupuk Indonesia cannot confirm who actually bought the fertilizer.

Last year we went to Ngawi (East Java), where there was a buildup of subsidized fertilizers. So the fertilizer that has been received by farmers is collectable. Then they are sold again to farmers in other areas at a higher price," he said.

In addition to developing chips, said Wijaya, his party also made a system management retail with the name Partner.

"This colleague is rich in a kind of apps that are installed by distributors and kiosks to track goods in and out," he explained.
