This Is The Reason The Directorate General Of Railways Builds Tanah Abang Baru Station

The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) will build Tanah Abang Baru Station. The construction of this station is to increase passenger capacity.

Director General of Ratapian at the Ministry of Transportation Risal Wasal said the government would expand passenger capacity with the construction of a new Tanah Abang Station to overcome passenger density.

"Yes, we will build (the Tanah Abang Baru Station), the capacity will be enlarged," he told VOI, Sunday, March 12.

But unfortunately, Risal did not explain further how much passenger capacity was at Tanah Abang Station. Even so, he emphasized that the construction of the station would only be carried out after Lebaran 2023.

"Development has not yet started. Still preparing. God willing, the construction will begin after the holiday," said Risal.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said the design for the construction of Tanah Abang Station was only final. The first phase of development is planned to be completed by the end of 2023

Regarding the construction of stations, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI has also prepared land. The land is very close to Tanah Abang Station at this time. It can even be seen directly from platform 2 or 3.

The land to be used is for the construction of Tanah Abang Station covering an area of 4 hectares. Previously, this land was used as a small depot for trains.

KAI itself has confirmed that the land will be used for the construction of a new station in the Tanah Abang area.

"That's right, the land that will be built by the Ministry of Transportation's DJKA will become a new station using ex-depo land," said Head of Public Relations of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Eva Chairunisa when contacted by VOI, Sunday, March 12.
