Minister Of Transportation Predicts 5 Regions To Be The Highest Homecoming Destination For Eid 2023

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) predicts that there are five regions that are the highest homecoming destinations, one of which is Central Java.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said it was predicted that 123.8 million would go home for Lebaran 2023 (Idulfitri 1444 H). This number increased by 14.2 percent compared to last year's 2022 which reached 85.5 million people.

The prediction of the movement of the community is the result of a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation through the Transportation Policy Agency (BKT).

Budi said, there are five regions that are the destinations for the favorite or highest homecoming. The first is Central Java with 26.45 percent or 32.75 million people.

"Then, East Java 19.87 percent or 24.6 million people," Budi told reporters, Tuesday, March 7.

Then, West Java 16.73 percent or 20.72 million people. As a result, from Jabodetabek it is predicted that 6.52 percent or 8.07 million people and Yogyakarta 4.78 percent or 5.9 million people are predicted.

The Ministry of Transportation also predicts that out of a total of 123.8 million people will move during the Eid 2023 period, as many as 27.32 million people will go home using private cars.

Budi said the peak of the homecoming flow is expected to occur on D-1 or Friday, April 21, 2023. Where it is predicted that there will be a movement of 14.3 percent or 17.7 million people.

"The increase in travel on the homecoming flow is predicted to start to increase from D-3 or Wednesday 19 April 2023," he said.

For the peak of backflow, said Budi, it is estimated that it will occur on D+2 or Tuesday, April 25, 2023 and it is predicted that the movement will still be quite high until D+3 or Wednesday, April 26, 2023.
