Commission XI Of The House Of Representatives Will Summon Director General Of Taxes Suryo Utomo For Performance Evaluation

JAKARTA - Commission XI, which is a partner of the Ministry of Finance at the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), will summon the Director General of Taxes Suryo Utomo to evaluate the performance of the institution he leads.

"We will propose to the leadership of the DPR to summon the Director General of Taxes and their staff to the DPR," said Member of Commission XI DPR RI Kamrussamad to Antara in Tokyo, quoted Friday, March 3.

According to him, Commission XI will schedule a summons for the Director General of Taxes in the second week of February 2023.

"After March 11, because the opening of the trial period was only March 13, 2023," said Kamrussamad.

The member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Indonesia Raya Movement (Gerindra) faction explained that the dialogue with the leaders of tax agencies will highlight the performance of human resources and the implementation of tax reforms in Indonesia.

The DPR's meeting with the Director General of Taxes is also inseparable from the discussion of the phenomenon of tax workers who often show off their assets on social media.

"Because tax institutions and tax officers are very important to maintain the trust of taxpayers, from the community. Moreover, taxes are one of the main pillars of national development," he said.

According to him, the emergence of the phenomenon of showing off wealth by tax workers is very unfortunate, because public trust in 2022 has risen with evidence of a tax ratio that exceeds the target.

"Commission XI certainly has an obligation in supervising the running of programs and budget absorption at the Ministry of Finance, including the Directorate of Taxes," said Kamrussamad.
