The Lion Air national airline informed that the passengers on the Kupang-Surabaya route had departed after being delayed due to the incident of the device incident of one of the passengers on fire in the aircraft cabin on Sunday morning.

He explained that the investigation team from the Indonesian civil aviation authorities and Lion Air were conducting an intensive investigation in an effort to ensure aircraft and operations met flight regulations.

"This was done after the burning incident of one of the passengers' cellphones in the aircraft cabin and the opening of the left side of the emergency window by one of the passengers without the direction of the cabin crew," he said.

Meanwhile, the results of this investigation will be used to obtain the best recommendations as an important part of improving the safety and security of all flights going forward.
