An Earthquake Of 4.8 SR Guncang Pesisir Barat Lampung

JAKARTA - An earthquake 4.8 scale richter (SR) rocked the West Coast Regency, Lampung, on Saturday, February 25, 09.08 WIB.

"The 4.8 magnitude earthquake with the epicenter was in the sea 59 kilometers southwest of the West Coast," the BMKG said, citing the intermediate.

Head of the Pesbar Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Mirza Sahri, said, based on information from the BMKG, the earthquake occurred at 09.08 WIB.

"Until now, the results of BMKG monitoring have not shown any aftershock activity," Mirza said in West Lampung.

Although the earthquake was in the sea 59 km southwest, he said, the earthquake was strong enough. Until now there have been no reports of damage in the West Coast area.

He appealed to the entire community to remain vigilant and not to panic.

"We appeal to all people in the area in West Coast Regency to remain calm," he said.

One of the residents in Krui, Pesisir Barat, Indah said that she felt strong earthquake vibrations. "Yes, the vibrations are quite strong, again cleaning up the houses of goods in the kitchen on the shakes," he said.

The impact of the earthquake was drawn by the BMKG shock level (Shakemap) map and based on reports from the public, this earthquake was felt in the West Coast, to Liwa West Lampung.

With the MMI Intensity II Scale (Fights felt by several people, light objects that were hung swayed). However, until now there have been no reports of damage to buildings as a result of the earthquake.

The results of the BMKG analysis show that this earthquake has a magnitude of 4.8 SR centered at coordinates 5,72 LS 103.87 East Longitude or precisely located in the sea at a distance of 59 km southwest of the West Coast at a depth of 29 km.
