It Was Rumored That The Electric Car Subsidy Was IDR 80 Million, Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources: Not In The Form Of Money

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif said the subsidy of electric vehicles will take effect in March 2023.

He said that later, two-wheeled vehicle subsidies would be given in the amount of Rp. 7 million, but Arifin was reluctant to provide the amount of subsidies that would be given to four-wheeled vehicles.

"Four-wheeled vehicles are not money," he told reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday, February 20.

Whereas previously it was reported by the Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita that the government would provide incentives of Rp. 80 million for the purchase of electric cars and Rp. 40 million for the purchase of hybrid-based electric cars.

Meanwhile, incentives for the purchase of electric motorcycles are set at Rp. 8 million, and incentives for conversion motors to electric motorcycles are Rp. 5 million.

Arifin said the government for 2023 is targeting conversions to 50,000 two-wheeled vehicles that were previously fossil fuels to electricity.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that the subsidy to be given was in the form of reducing vehicle taxes which from supermarkets set at 11 percent, only 1 percent would be given.

"The car will be given the incentives later. From the possible tax, 11 percent will be reduced by a few percent," he said in Jakarta Thursday, January 26.
