JAKARTA - Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan-RB) Abdullah Azwar Anas said digitization of the bureaucracy is the key to encouraging the performance of the state civil apparatus (ASN) to be better.

"The president gave a message that the bureaucracy should not be involved again, so the service must be fast," said Anas on the sidelines of the Jember State High School Reunion, at Taman Botani, Jember Regency, East Java, Saturday.

According to him, the theme of the Ministry of PAN RB is to move for impact reform, so that digitization of bureaucracy is an option so that in the future bureaucratic services can be faster, can be more transparent, and can be cheaper.

He said his party was encouraging bureaucratic performance so that it could be improved because the people now want to get better services and maybe bureaucratic work is now doing well.

"But the people demand more impact. Do not let ASN be busy, but the impact is not too much for the people, so we encourage the bureaucracy to move and have an impact," he said.

Ahead of the 2024 General Election, said Anas, the Ministry of PAN-RB, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Election Supervisory Body, the State Civil Apparatus Commission, and several other institutions have established memorandums of understanding so that all ASN can comply.

"The goal is to realize ASN neutrality in the political year during the 2024 election," said the former Banyuwangi Regent.

He explained that the directives, sanctions, and various steps for violating ASNs were very clear and could not be negotiated.

"Therefore, ASN must be neutral as part that cannot be negotiated to deal with political activities in the 2024 General Election," he said.
