The Economy Of The Republic Of Indonesia Is Cheating On Gas! Corporate And Household Financing Is Increasing

JAKARTA Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that in January 2023 the request for financing in the corporate sector was indicated to have grown positively. This was conveyed by the Head of the BI Communication Department Erwin Haryono today.

According to him, based on a survey of banking demand and offers, it is known that the Weighted Net Balance (SBT) for corporate financing is 12.1 percent.

"The majority of financing mainly comes from funds themselves, followed by the use of leniency facilities for withdrawals, loans or debts from the parent company, and the addition of new credit to domestic banks," he said during a press statement broadcast today, Friday, February 17.

Erwin revealed that the positive signal of the economy at the beginning of the year did not only occur on the producer side but also on the consumer side.

He said the demand for new financing in household groups indicated an increase last month. Erwin said, the majority of households apply for a type of financing in the form of multi-purpose loans and choose commercial banks as the main source of additional financing.

"As for other sources of financing that are household preferences to meet financing needs, including cooperatives and leasing," he stressed.

Previously, Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo said that increasing consumption and private production this year would greatly determine the pace of economic growth. The BI boss stated that the private sector together with export flows to China became two important 2023 game changers.

"We hope that the private sector can consume higher this year in line with the revocation of PPKM," Perry said after a meeting of the Board of Governors in the middle of this week.

For information, the central bank has set a target for economic growth in 2023 in the range of 4.5 percent to 5.3 percent with a midpoint of 4.9 percent. The latest projection was then sharpened to an upward bias of 5.1 percent this year.
