PT PLN (Persero) managed to restore 100 percent of Madura's electricity system which was affected by interference with the delivery of the 150 kilovolt High Voltage Cable Channel (SKTT) Ujung - Bangkalan. Previously, the disturbance occurred since last Friday, February 3.

PLN reported that on Monday, February 13 at 15.38 WIB, electricity supply to all affected customers had returned to normal.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said PLN deployed 262 personnel from the Transmission Master Unit (UIT), the Distribution Main Unit and experts equipped with sophisticated equipment to restore disturbances at Joint Pit (JP) 5 and JP 17.

"Phase after step has been passed, starting from investigation, recovery to energy zing has been carried out. Alhamdulillah, Monday at 15.38 WIB, electricity has returned to 100 percent normal," Darmawan said in an official statement, Monday, February 13.

Darmawan explained that this disturbance caused a reduction in loads of 20 - 100 Megawatts (MW), resulting in load management in several areas of Madura Island.

Darmawan said that the smooth running of the electricity recovery process could not be separated from the support, synergy and full trust of stakeholders and the entire Madurese community.

PLN moved quickly to supply temporary electricity to Madurese by bringing in 96 generator units from PLN units in Java and Bali. PLN also distributed 12,295 emergency lights that can be used by the community.

PLN thanks all parties involved in the process of restoring the electricity network.

"Thank you and the highest appreciation to the forkopimda, stakeholders, community leaders and the entire Madurese community for the support that has been given, which continues to motivate the spirit of PLN personnel so that they can provide optimal efforts in this recovery," said Darmawan.

General Manager of the East Java Distribution Main Unit, Lasiran said that in an effort to prevent repeated incidents, PLN took steps to strengthen the electricity system in Madura. Among other things, PLN is building a SKTT transmission of 150 kV Kewall - TX Bangkalan sirkit 3 and 4 along 16 kilo meters of the circuit (kms).

He targets that the construction of the 3rd circuit is projected to be completed by the end of March 2023. As for the 4th circuit, construction will begin April and is projected to be completed by the end of 2023.

"Currently, the Madura region is supported by 2 circities, namely SUTT 150 kV Ujung/Kenjeran- SKTT 150 kV Suramadu 1 and 2- SUTT 150 kV Bangkalan/Gilitimur. It is hoped that this system can reduce the loading of existing transmissions and support the growth of electricity needs in Madura," concluded Lasir.
