Government Regulations In Lieu Of Job Creation Can Strengthen Blue Economy-Based Mariculture Development

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is optimistic that the implementation of the Government Regulation in lieu (Perppu) of the Job Creation Law will strengthen the development of environmentally friendly marine, coastal, and land cultivation.

According to the Directorate General of Aquaculture (DJPB) of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, this implementation can be carried out with a blue economy-based program.

"Despite the intensive increase in production, the cultivation process is still in accordance with the blue economy concept promoted by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries," said Director General of Aquaculture, Tb Haeru Rahayu, quoting Antara, Monday, February 13.

The blue economy concept promoted by KKP is:

1. Every aquaculture production process that is carried out still applies the principles of eco-efficiency along the value chain,

2. Prioritizing the preservation of natural resources, and

3. Controlling the impact of environmental damage and involving the community.

He also said that in the context of implementing the Job Creation Law, DJPB has completed the mandate of the mandated laws and regulations, namely the issuance of Ministerial Regulation (Permen) 13/2021 concerning Emergency Response Measures and Control of Fish Diseases, Ministerial Regulation KP 19/2021 concerning Re-stocking and Catching Fish Based on Cultivation, and Issuance of Kepmen KP 28/2021 concerning Types of Fish Diseases with the Potential to Become Outbreaks.

"Issuance of this regulation is nothing but an effort to control disease or outbreaks of fish diseases that hinder aquaculture production," he also said.

In line with Tb Haeru, Secretary of the Directorate General of Aquaculture Fisheries Gemi Triastutik added, the material for the aquaculture subsector is regulated in the Job Creation Perppu. In addition to business permits, it includes emergency response and control of fish diseases, re-spreading and catching fish based on cultivation, and types of fish diseases that have the potential to become outbreaks.
