JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir wants Sarinah to expand the market for Indonesian MSME products.

He said, the opening of the duty-free shop 'Sarinah Duty Free' could be a support for promoting local products.

Erick also wants Sarinah to become a world-class retail store. That way, Indonesian products will be able to penetrate the global market.

"We want Sarinah to become a world-class retailer, so that Indonesian products can penetrate the global market, so thank you to Sarinah, Dufry and Omega Groups for realizing this strategic partnership that we see now," he said at the inauguration of Sarinah Duty Free, Wednesday, February 1.

Erick said that the opening of Sarinah Duty Free, his party collaborated with Dufry International and Omega Group. Erick said this cooperation is real evidence that generates benefits for all parties.

"We need Dufry to support Indonesian products to penetrate the global market. This is what we have agreed on since the first day," he explained.

On this occasion, Erick also admitted that he was proud of the Duty Free concept, which is different from other Duty Free stores, because local products are lined up. According to Erick, this concept has never happened before.

"We are proud to be able to realize this today, previously we could not find a high quality Indonesian product lined up from MSMEs in the Duty Free shop that we see now," he said.

Meanwhile, Sarinah Fetty's President Director Kwartati admitted that he would immediately draw up plans to expand the market for Indonesian products. One of them, participates in including local products in international outlets.

In the first step, he continued, later the expansion of the market through a shop called the 'Indonesia Corner' will target neighboring countries first.

"Indonesia Corner will exist in countries close to Indonesia, for example Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, before going to the Netherlands and the middleeast (Central East) country," he explained.

Fetty said there are 42 local products in Sarinah Duty Free. Consisting of food, drinks, and fashion products.

We combine international products and local products, this distinguishes Duty Free Sarinah from others. There are 42 brands from MSMEs, consisting of chocolate, coffee, fashion, wastra, wellness greetings, this is to give many choices to customers," Fetty said.
