JAKARTA - President Director of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk. (BCA) Jahja Setiaatmadja appeared to be present at the launch ceremony of the 2022 Bank Indonesia Transparency and Accountability Report (LTABI) and the 2023 Policy Direction organized by the central bank today.

On that occasion, Jahja even had the opportunity to symbolically accept the minutes given directly by BI Governor Perry Warjiyo.

The BCA boss's capacity is one of the stakeholder representatives from Bank Indonesia.

Jahja also feels happy to be one of the parties that is considered sufficient to contribute to the development of central bank policies.

"Yes, thank you," said Jahja to VOI when congratulating him on Monday, January 30.

Jahja's presence in BI's official agenda is not the only time. The editor noted that at least he also attended and was on the same stage with the Governor of BI during the 16th Bulletin of Monetary Economics & Banking International Conference and Call for Papers forum in August 2022.

At that time Perry explained about a number of strategic programs currently being run by the monetary authority, including the plan to issue digital rupiah in the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) scheme which will be distributed through channeling banks.

VOI then confirmed to Jahja regarding the company's opportunity to be involved in the digital rupiah scheme.

Like a tit for tat, Jahja then explained that his party expressed interest in participating in the 4.0 technology transaction.

"Hopefully we can enter to become wholesalers of digital rupiah from Bank Indonesia," said Jahja to the previous editor.

Whether coincidentally or not, at the launch of the Bank Indonesia Transparency and Accountability Report (LTABI) today Perry also mentioned the plan to issue digital rupiah.

To note, the road map for the implementation of digital rupiah has reached a large design summarized in the white paper (WP).

Here it is revealed how BI outlined the formulation of CBDC taking into account the principles of benefits and risks.

The celebration of digital rupiah is getting smoother when the government and the DPR have agreed to pass the Law on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK) in December 2022 as an important milestone in financial system reform in Indonesia.
