The government through the Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN) of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) initiated the establishment of the Housing Financing Ecosystem Secretariat to overcome the gap between the number of houses built and the number of houses needed (backlog).

Director General of State Assets Rionald Silaban said this was the first step in supporting the creation of an integrated ecosystem as an effort to fulfill housing so that it could run optimally, including creative financing efforts.

"The government continues to make various efforts to alleviate the backlog on the availability of decent and affordable housing for the community," he said on Wednesday, January 25.

According to Rionald, the ecosystem in the housing sector involves many parties, from the supply side to the demand side, both regulators, BUMN, the private sector, and the community itself.

"We want to realize the goal of providing a proper place to live for the entire community, so the support of all parties in the housing ecosystem is absolutely needed," he said.

Rionald explained, since 2010 the government has allocated a total FLPP program budget of IDR 79.7 trillion to finance the construction of 1.1 million housing units for low-income people (MBR).

He also said that the provision of additional state capital participation (PMN) to PT Sarana Multigriya Finansial (SMF) also allocated a portion of 25 percent of FLPP mortgage financing since 2017 amounting to IDR 7.8 trillion to support financing for the provision of 421,650 MBR housing units.

"The state budget for housing is also allocated through the Ministry of PUPR's budget with a value of IDR 36.2 trillion in 2018-2022 for 1.1 million housing units, both in the form of flat construction, special houses, self-help houses and public infrastructure," he said.

The establishment of the Housing Financing Ecosystem Secretariat bound the synergy of the Ministry of Finance's DJKN, the Directorate General of Public Works Infrastructure Financing and Housing Financing, and PT SMF.

On the same occasion, a joint commitment signing was also carried out from members of the Housing Financing Ecosystem signed by BP Tapera Commissioner Adi Setianto, BTN President Director Haru Koesmahargyo, and Perum Perumnas Director Budi Saddewa Soediro.
