JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (NFA) invites all parties to be involved and collaborate in strengthening supervision of the security of fresh food circulating in the community.

NFA Food Consumption and Safety Deputy Andriko Noto Susanto said his party had gone down to the market to jointly test a number of fresh foods sold in the Mayestik market.

"This action is to ensure that fresh foods, both bulk and in packaging that are sold in this market are safe, in the sense that they are free from physical contamination, chemical and biological," Andriko said in his official statement, Saturday, January 21.

"We are conducting a rapid test today to ensure that food in the market is safe. The state is here to ensure that people's food is maintained and guaranteed, both in terms of upstream production, stock availability and reserves, affordability, and security," he added.

The rapid test itself was carried out by the NFA Food Safety Competent Authority team. In its implementation, a test was carried out on residual pesticides from the organofosphate class for commodities of curly chilies, shallots, mustard, tomatoes and cabbage.

According to Andriko, a series of tests will prove safe, if the results of the pesticide residue test are below the required threshold, so it is safe to consume.

"Here, we are testing several fresh food commodities, after being tested the results are well below the maximum threshold and this can be categorized as safe from organofosphate pesticides," he said.

From the results of the supervision, the fruits and vegetables sold were seen in a fresh condition and a good environmental sanitation hygiene.

Andriko also ensured that this action was a form of concern for the community, so that they could live a healthy, active, and sustainable life by eating foods that were free from spruce.

"This step is one of NFA's efforts to provide food security guarantees for the community," he said.

On the same occasion, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Food, Maritime and Agriculture Security Service, Suharini Eliawati, hopes that this collaboration and collaboration will continue not only for agricultural products, but can also test samples for livestock and fishery products, so as to ensure that all food circulating in Jakarta is safe for consumption.

"We welcome today as the opening in early 2023, of course, the Mayestik Market election means that the government is here to ensure the safety of food for all levels of society," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the National Food Agency Arief Prasetyo Adi said, guarantees for the safety of fresh food for the community are important things that must be done together through the synergy of the central government and local governments, including strengthening institutions for monitoring the security of food centers and regions.

"As a state institution that has a role to play in maintaining national food security, NFA needs to strengthen multi-sector collaboration together with other ministries and institutions by taking a public health approach in more innovative and sustainable ways," he said.

Furthermore, said Arief, food safety is an important aspect that must be met. "If food safety requirements are not met, it's actually not food. If its not safe, its not food."
