JAKARTA - PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk is expanding the implementation of the Quick Response (QR) Code feature in mobile banking in line with the increasing number of users of the Muamalat Digital Islamic Network (DIN) application.

Bank Muamalat Director Wahyu Avianto said the QR code scan feature in Muamalat DIN can be used to transact at merchants or shops that use the QRIS logo.

"Bank Muamalat customers don't need to worry because the DIN Muamalat can already be used to transact at tens of millions of merchants throughout Indonesia," he said in an official statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, January 13.

He said that currently the trend of digital payments using the QR Code feature has increased rapidly thanks to the presence of Bank Indonesia regulations related to the Quick Response Indonesian Standard (QRIS). Bank Indonesia noted that more than 21 million merchants have been integrated with QRIS as of September 2022.

In addition, he continued, QRIS Acquirer Bank Muamalat services can be used at commercial merchants, such as retail stores and gas stations, as well as payment of donations and transactions such as the Amil Zakat Institution (LAZ), mosques, schools, donation institutions and hospitals.

Bank Muamalat has obtained permission as a acquisitioner from BI to issue a QRIS sticker that can be used by customers who provide Payment Services (PJP) connected to QRIS.

"The QR Code issued by Bank Muamalat can even be used by the community to donate to mosque charity boxes," said Wahyu.

He explained that customers as merchants will be equipped with a special application called Muamalat Merchant App (MMA) to manage payment transactions that are superior in terms of security, namely transaction refund protection using a Personal Identification Number (PIN).

He said 90 percent of Bank Muamalat customer transactions had gone through a digital channel with the majority through the Muamalat DIN application. As of November 2022, Muamalat DIN has processed transactions of more than IDR 46 trillion from 33 million transactions, which is more than 70 percent in the form of electronic transfer transactions.
