Research For The Finding Of Oil And Gas Fields In Papua, Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources: The Potential Is Larger Than The Masela Block

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is reviewing the findings of natural resources in the form of oil and gas basins (oil and gas) in Papua.

Director General of Oil and Gas (Dirjen Migas) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tutuka Ariadji, said the basin was in Warim Basin which is close to the borders of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

"In Papua, which borders Papua New Guinea, there is oil. It's very big," he told the media quoted on Friday, January 6.

Tutuka added that the potential for Warim Basin is estimated to exceed the oil and gas potential contained in Masela Block, which has the potential to be known to be able to produce as much as 9.5 million tons of LNG per year.

As well as the potential for piped gas as much as 150 MMSCF. However, Tutuka is still reluctant to specify the amount of potential that Warim Basin has because it is still being investigated.

"Gede is more like a giant giant Masela size," added Tutuka.

Furthermore, Tutuka said that to manage this basin, his party still had to coordinate with the Ministry of Environment Hidp and Forestry (KLHK) because the location was in conjunction with the Lorentz National Park.

"We want to try and be related to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and so on, we have to work together on how to solve it because there is a national park," concluded Tutuka.
