JAKARTA - Pertamina Patra Niaga noted that airplane fuel consumption, avtur, increased to 9.71 percent during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Regional Marketing Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Mars Ega Legowo said this increase was due to changes in the vehaviour of people who previously went home at the end of the year to become holidays.

"The biggest increase in national demand on aggregate was 9.71 percent of the avtur," he said, quoted on Thursday, January 5.

Mars Ega continued, this increase was driven by the high demand for aviation fuel in tourist areas which experienced growth of up to 40 percent.

"Alhamdulillah we were able to handle this well," he added.

This is in line with data from the Ministry of Transportation which recorded a 41.59 percent increase in general passengers during the Christmas and New Year holidays or as many as 8,316,131 public transport passengers traveling.

The highest cumulative number of passengers is 2,425,613 passengers on air or an increase of 31.97 percent from the same period in 2021.

Mars Ega detailed, during the year's increase in demand nationally for energy, including gasoline increasing percent, gasoil falling 8.3 percent and LPG which experienced an increase of 2.7 percent.

Pertamina Patra Niaga alerted 1179 24-hour gas stations, 51 Pertamina kiosks, 496 motorists and 195 tankers.
