AP II Burns 3.31 Million Aircraft Passengers During The Christmas And New Year 2023 Holidays

PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) recorded that the number of passenger movements at 20 airports during Christmas and New Year's 2022/2023 transportation reached 3.31 million passengers, an increase of about 64 percent compared to the previous period of 2.01 million.

"Meanwhile, aircraft movements have increased by 38 percent or from 19,096 flights to 26,270 flights," said AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin as quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 5.

Awaluddin said the Christmas-New Year transportation, which was held from 19 December 2022 to 3 January 2023, exceeded the initial target, namely for passengers as many as 2.54 million passengers and for aircraft movements as many as 20,349 flights.

AP II expressed its gratitude to all stakeholders, including the Ministry of SOEs, the Ministry of Transportation, local governments, the TNI and Polri, Customs and Excise, Quarantine, Immigration, airlines, AirNav Indonesia and others who have supported so that the implementation of transportation runs successfully.

Especially at Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Banten) which is the largest airport in Indonesia, the number of passengers in this period reached 2.05 million passengers, an increase of 66 percent compared to the previous period of 1.24 million passengers. Meanwhile, for aircraft movements recorded 14,877 flights, an increase of 39 percent.

The top 5 domestic route destinations from Soekarno-Hatta Airport are to Bali (460,026 passengers), Deli Serdang (310,146 passengers), Ujung Pandang (195,265 passengers), Surabaya (192,268 passengers) and Pontianak (130,100 passengers).

"Rute Jakarta - Bali is the favorite during the year-end holiday period, as well as showing that the Indonesian tourism sector is excited in line with the improving pandemic conditions," he said.

Meanwhile, the top 5 international destinations from Soekarno-Hatta Airport are heading to Singapore (223,238 passengers), Kuala Lumpur (127,779 passengers), Jeddah (105,820 passengers), Medina (54,359 passengers) and Doha (39,525 passengers).

Awaluddin said that the Jakarta route to Jeddah and Medina, Saudi Arabia, was included in the top 5 busiest routes throughout 2022 along with the return of Umrah pilgrimage.

Meanwhile, AP II Director of Operation Muhamad Wasid conveyed that during this Christmas-New Year transportation period AP II airports served a total of 606 additional flights operated by airlines.

"The request for extra flight is quite high and AP II airport is able to provide flight time slots to accommodate the request, so that the community's air travel needs can be met," said Muhamad Wasid.

Muhamad Wasid explained that the highest extra flight demand was at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, namely 395 extra flights, 375 extra flights domestically and 20 extra flights internationally), followed by Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport (Palembang) with 44 extra flights domestically, and Husein Sastranegara Airport (Bandung) with 42 domestic extra flights.

Meanwhile, as many as 125 extra flights are divided into other airports.
