PT PLN (Persero) has implemented various programs that have contributed greatly to the lives of the community and the environment. Throughout 2022, PLN has implemented 2,537 programs through PLN Cares Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL).

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said, as a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN), PLN does not only carry out business activities, but must contribute greatly to people's lives.

"Therefore, in running its business, PLN must be in line with the goals of sustainable development," said Darmawan, in his statement, Saturday, December 31.

The TJSL program run by PLN to support the achievement of sustainable development goals (SGDs) 2030. In detail, the TJSL program that has been implemented consists of social pillars of 871 programs, economy 995 programs, environment 584 programs, law and governance of 77 programs spread across 34 provinces.

Darmawan said that the programs carried out had an impact on hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries. Also, creating tens of thousands of jobs.

"This series of TJSL programs that have been carried out throughout 2022 have an impact on 285,000 beneficiaries and have created new jobs for 25,095 workers, spread throughout Indonesia," Darmawan explained.

A number of flagship programs to achieve sustainable development goals include, first, biomass processing programs as a mixture of fuel for Steam Power Plants (PLTU). The presence of this program is to encourage a mix of new and renewable energy and can overcome environmental problems such as waste, agricultural waste, wood and others.

Through this program, 176,000 tons of waste was successfully processed, spread across 27 program locations, and 281 workers were absorbed.

Second, Electrifying Agriculture, namely the widespread use of electrical energy for agriculture. This program has proven to have an impact on the optimal productivity of the agricultural and plantation sectors. The Electrical Agriculture program was successfully realized in 33 places with 1,589 beneficiaries. This program also creates new jobs for 565 workers.

Third, the use of coal burning waste in PLTU or known as fly ash and bottom ash (FABA). Through this program, the waste produced by burning is used as raw material for various sectors that can revive the community's economy such as bricks, paving, and road casting materials. A total of 2.26 million tons of FABA have been utilized and absorb 241 people.

Fourth, the Informal School which is a literacy improvement program targeting informal schools through natural schools, street children's schools, river schools and others with a total of 49 programs with 8,045 beneficiaries.

Fifth, the reforestation program in the framework of Indonesian Tree Planting Day in 2022, where 1.47 million trees have been planted consisting of mangrove and productive trees. In the future, these trees have the potential to absorb up to 5.5 million tons of CO2.

Sixth, throughout 2022 PLN has realized 43 MSME development programs through BUMN Homes. With this program, PLN has provided benefits to 11,000 UMK spread throughout Indonesia. PLN through BUMN Homes actively participates in increasing the capability of MSMEs through the distribution of capital assistance, training and coaching.

"We will continue this TJSL program next year to be able to encourage the community's economy as well as become a catalyst in creating a clean and sustainable environment. We hope that through the TJSL PLN program, it can provide a multiplier effect for the nation and state," concluded Darmawan.
