Support Food Security, Perhutani-ID Food With Synergy Genjot Cultivation Of Tebu Plants

JAKARTA - Perum Perhutani and PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (Persero) or Food Holding ID Food synergize to support government programs in the context of food security, especially sugar through sugarcane cultivation.

This synergy was realized in the signing of the Head of Agreement (HoA) for Forest Area Utilization Cooperation for Cultivation Activities, especially Rice Plants to Support Food Security by the President Director of Perum Perhutani Wahyu Kuncoro and the President Director of PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (Persero) Frans Marganda Tambunan at the Graha Perhutani Building, XX floor, Jakarta, Friday, December 30.

President Director of Perum Perhutani, Wahyu Kuncoro, said that sugarcane cultivation in forest areas is carried out in order to support government programs in food security.

Therefore, the government issued PermenLHK no. 81 of 2016 concerning cooperation in the use and use of forest areas to support food security.

Since the issuance of PermenLHK No. 81 of 2016, said Wahyu, Perum Perhutani has provided an area of 23,708 hectares (ha).

The development of sugar cane on forest land has many challenges, it is necessary to synergize with various parties so that this program is successful, the use of forest land for sugarcane has been legally protected by the government, therefore we have to carry it out," he said, in a statement, Friday, December 30.

Meanwhile, President Director of Food Holding ID Frans Marganda Tambunan said, as an effort to support the government in self-sufficiency in sugar through upstream food improvements, Food Holding ID Food optimizes land empowerment for sugarcane cultivation in the synergy of Perum Perhutani.

"To optimize sugarcane production, together with Perhutani, we work together to empower forest areas in the West Java and East Java areas to be used as sugarcane cultivation activities, provide assistance and guarantee of offtake from sugarcane cultivation," said Frans.

Other support in terms of sugar self-sufficiency, continued Frans, ID Food is the only state-owned company in Indonesia that implements it.

The first sugar Gudang Resistance System (SRG) in Indonesia to help improve the welfare of sugarcane farmers by realizing 96 receipts worth 40,202 tons or equivalent to Rp320 billion.

According to him, this sugarcane cultivation collaboration can also be an opportunity to improve the welfare of sugarcane farmers in the future.

"The synergy that will be valid for the next 2 years includes the use of forest areas, empowering communities around the forest through sugarcane cultivation activities, increasing production and productivity of sugarcane cultivation activities," he explained.
