YOGYAKARTA - The government is still calculating the price limit for electric cars that will receive a subsidy of IDR 80 million.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang said the subsidy of electric vehicles to support domestic electricity-based industries and accelerate the implementation of environmentally friendly vehicles in Indonesia.

"Time frame doesn't exist yet. That's why I say, one of the keys is our discussion with the DPR, because it is related to the budget," Agus said in an interview with the 2022 End of Year Press & Seminar Outlook Industry 2023, Tuesday, December 27.

"If later it can be faster than June, why not? But the point is there is no time frame yet. I have to tell the truth there is no time frame yet," added Agus.

Based on Agus' opinion, the government still pays attention to a number of conditions for subsidies for electric vehicles, one of which is an automotive company that has a factory in Indonesia.

Then, the Ministry of Industry also calculates four-wheeled electric vehicles that will receive incentives that are estimated to take IDR 80 million.

Minister of Industry Agus, said he was most likely targeting electric four-wheeled vehicles whose prices were below Rp800 million.

"Later, we will calculate how much four-wheeled electric vehicles will be subject to incentives. We can determine electric vehicles which are below Rp800 million. This can be, not final," said Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, December 26.

Agus emphasized that the government also plans to disburse incentives for four-hybrid wheeled vehicles, electric motors.

The amount of electric car subsidies is Rp. 80 million, hybrid cars is Rp. 40 million, and electric motorcycles are Rp. 8 million.

The government is also working on subsidies for local electric public transportation, especially electric buses, which costs up to billions of rupiah.

"Because this is for the public interest, this will certainly be our concern. But we have not determined the amount," said the Minister of Industry.
