JAKARTA - The government is still coordinating with a number of parties regarding the incentive rules for buying electric cars or motorcycles in Indonesia, to date.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the government opened the opportunity to discuss this with the House of Representatives (DPR).

"There is a possibility (the meeting with the DPR)," Agus said when met at his office, Monday, December 19.

He even emphasized that the finalization of the electricity vehicle incentive rules later, must have approval from the DPR first

"The government will definitely ask the DPR for permission first," said Agus.

When asked about the number of incentives that are predicted to burden the state budget funds, Agus was reluctant to provide answers. According to him, this is the authority of the government.

"The government is discussing it, yes," he added.

Previously, the Government was finalizing incentive rules for the purchase of electric cars or motorcycles.

Later, these incentives will be given to every purchase of electric vehicles, both cars and motorbikes, which are produced by companies that have factories in Indonesia.

This incentive is expected to provide various benefits for the development of the electric vehicle industry.

According to the plan, Agus continued, the incentives to be given for the purchase of electric cars are around Rp. 80 million, and for hybrid-based electric cars around Rp. 40 million.

Meanwhile, for the type of two-wheeled vehicle, the government will provide an incentive of around Rp. 8 million.

Then, the motor converts to an electric motorcycle, getting an incentive of around Rp. 5 million.
