In his keynote speech, Dr. Ing. Ilham Akbar Habibie, MBA, as the Head of the ICT National Council Implementation Team stated the importance of digital transformation, both in the business and government sectors.

"I don't think we can deny that we have completely entered the digital era. However, since we went through the pandemic (COVID-19), we have felt the full impact of our limitations moving, working, and meeting others (in fact) many things can be substituted digitally," said Ilham.

According to him, digitizing the substance is a technology that is applied to improve overall mode and work processes, both in terms of cost, speed, and quality.

"I give an example, we have just switched from analog TV to digital, that's the hope that in the future the signal will certainly be better, then we can also get more channels, and (the viewer) customers get a much better service than analogue. So, with digital technology we get one better quality service," he said.

Talking about digitization, he said, it means that he will also mention data in digital form.

"We may often hear a motto saying that data is the new oil. In this case, data will have value if the data is in digital form," he said.

"That's why with digitalization, data has the potential to be processed and can become something that has excess value. That is actually the same as oil. So if we produce oil in raw form, it has no value, but has to go through a process to become fuel, plastic, into fertilizer, and so on," he continued.

To process data so that it has value like oil, Ilham also mentioned the important roles of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, and Machine Learning technologies to find out the patterns in the data.

"Sometimes we have seen the pattern, thank God, we quickly understand the data, but sometimes the data looks very random, so we need a machine to understand the pattern or create a pattern first, so we understand how we should interpret the data," said Ilham.
