East Java Becomes A National Highest Sugar And Tebu Producer, Governor Khofifah Asks Farmers To Take ADVANTAGE Of Digital Transformation

East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa explained that sugar production in the province he leads reached 49.55 percent or 1,192,034 tons of the total national sugar production of 2,405,907 tons.

"Meanwhile, the production of East Java cane in 2022 is 47.65 percent or equivalent to 17,362,620 tons," he said in a statement quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 14.

Governor Khofifah explained that sugar cane production in East Java in 2022 will increase compared to 2021 of 14,767,763 tons or 47.63 percent of the national sugar cane production and produce 1,087,415 tons of sugar.

"The highest sugar cane production per district/city in East Java in 2022 will come from Malang as much as 3,102,260 tons. Meanwhile, the highest sugar production is produced from Lumajang Regency as much as 2,225,963 tons and Jombang 1,217,931 tons," he said.

Based on this note, according to data from the Directorate General of Plantation of the Ministry of Agriculture in 2022, East Java province is listed as the province with the highest national sugar and sugar production and sugar cane.

Governor Khofifah hopes that this increase in production can make East Java a national sugar barometer.

"This increase in production is also a capital for Indonesia to realize self-sufficiency in sugar," he said.

Furthermore, Governor Khofifah advised sugarcane farmers to take advantage of digital transformation in the processing process to become sugar.

"By using a digital system, of course, the quality will also increase because it is more productive and efficient. So it can be monitored starting from finding good seeds, then the harvesting process including transparency of sugar rendemensation levels," he said.

In addition, Khofifah reminded farmers to continue to maintain communication and coordination with several agencies that have research centers in order to produce the quality of sugarcane seeds in order to produce good reformation levels.

According to him, if it comes from good seeds and has good quality and measurable dismantling of the queen, then the level of redement will also be good.

"About 95 percent of sugarcane farmers in East Java are farmers of the people. People's farmers can become entrepreneurs in the field of packaged raw materials. For this reason, coordination and synchronization of sugarcane farmers, APTRI, sugar factories and PTPN must be well consolidated," said Khofifah.
