JAKARTA - The Saudi Arabian Civil Aviation Authority or known as the General Authority Civil Aviation (GACA) visited West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati Majalengka, West Java, Tuesday, December 6.

As the second largest airport in Indonesia, it will be prepared to serve Hajj flights in 2023.

Acting (Plt) Director General of Civil Aviation, Maria Kristi Endah Murni, said that the seven Saudi Arabian delegations were representatives from the Ministry of Transportation and Logistics of Saudi Arabia, GACA Saudi Arabia, Saudi Airlines and Flynas airlines led by Hajj and Umrah Manager, Economic Policies and Air Transport GACA, and Mr. Eng Mazen A. Bazahair.

"They (the GACA team) want to see and directly observe the readiness of Kertajati Airport facilities for Hajj and Umrah flights, especially ensuring the readiness of facilities at airports, such as office space, aircraft refueling, catering services, accommodation, and baggage management," Maria said in a written statement, Wednesday, December 7.

"In addition, the GACA Team also reviewed the readiness of the Hajj dormitory that must be fulfilled by the Ministry of Religion if there are Hajj flights," he continued.

Maria added that the standard for the implementation of the Hajj must be adjusted to GACA's standards.

"Of course, the facilities needed for the implementation of Hajj and Umrah flights at Kertajati Airport must comply with the standards of the GACA Saudi Arabia Team," he explained.

The results of the visit will later be submitted to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation after GACA conducts an internal discussion first.

Maria hopes that with the visit of the Saudi Arabia GACA Team, it can encourage Umrah flights, Hajj, and international flights to and from Kertajati, so that people have more airline options for international flights.

The GACA Team's visit was welcomed by representatives from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and representatives from the Ministry of Religion, West Java International Airport (PT. BIJB), Perum LPPNPI AirNav Indonesia, PT Pertamina, CIQ Kertajati Airport, and the Quarantine Center.

For your information, Umrah flights from Kertajati Airport to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, were carried out through Garuda Indonesia and Lion Air, last November.
