Open Health Command Post, PLN Facilitation Of Examination And Treatment Of Cianjur Residents After The Earthquake

CIANJUR - PT PLN (Persero) through the Baitul Maal Foundation (YBM) PLN sent volunteer doctors and opened a health post for survivors of the Cianjur earthquake.

The YBM PLN health post was opened a day after the earthquake and continues to serve the medical needs of the refugees to this day.

One of the PLN's YBM medical personnel, doctor Suryani, said that there were 4 nurses, 7 doctors, and volunteers who were deployed directly at the health post at the location affected by the Cianjur earthquake.

Most residents who come here suffer from cough and runny nose, soreness, stomach acid, hypertension and itching. In addition to treating, we also provide education to survivors to maintain health, get enough sleep and be patient in facing the current disaster tests," Suryani told reporters, Thursday, December 1.

The treatment of the YBM PLN health post is divided into 2, mobile posts that continue to move and tour the evacuation sites helping residents. And one health post that lives.

"Especially for residential health posts, apart from medical examinations, our residents also serve ultrasound pregnancy examinations for pregnant women who survived the earthquake," explained Doctor Suryani.

Suryani herself is a doctor who often jumps when a disaster occurs.

He and other team of health workers also felt what the earthquake survivors experienced.

We here sometimes lack rest and sleep quite a bit because we are anxious and afraid of aftershocks. But on the other hand, we are happy to be able to treat the victims in refugee camps. Our brothers and sisters need health services due to earthquake trauma. Many are sick due to lack of rest and rainy weather conditions," he added.

According to the doctor who practices independently every day, the refugees need a tent that is suitable to occupy. Mainly for the elderly and toddlers.

Drug supplies are also continuously needed to support the smooth running of treatment.

In the midst of a completely limited situation, there is happiness when he manages to provide the best handling.

Last week we received an elderly patient aged 86 years. When taken to the post, the family said that the patient had experienced severe shortness of breath in the evacuation for 3 days. Thank God, conditions improved after we took urgent nebu measures and oxygen administration," he concluded.

Mia Sumiati, one of the earthquake survivors who suffered from dizziness and stomach pain, expressed her gratitude for the service of the YBM PLN Health Post.

My illness has been handled by a team of doctors well. Children and husbands have also been examined. The night after the earthquake, doctors from YBM arrived and were alert. Thank God, it was very helpful," he said.

The YBM PLN health post will continue to serve the refugees until December 2022.

To reach earthquake survivors in the most affected areas, starting December 1, the post will operate in the Cugenang area.

To note, the Richter Scale 5.6 Earthquake (SR) that occurred in Cianjur (21/11) caused several families to stay at the post because their houses were damaged and even destroyed.

Highly limited facilities, environmental conditions and easy-to-changing weather often make refugees experience health problems.
