JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) based on the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for 2020-2024, in 2022, electricity consumption per Kapita is targeted to reach 1,268 kWh per capita.

"Until September 2022, the electricity consumption rate is still at 1,169 kWh per capita. The average electricity consumption in ASEAN itself is 3,672 kWh per capita where this shows that the level of electricity consumption in Indonesia is still quite lagging behind when compared to neighboring countries," explained Secretary of the Directorate General of Electricity Ida Nuryatin Finahari to VOI, Saturday, November 26.

Ida said that in the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, until 2024, it is hoped that the electricity consumption rate per capita in Indonesia can reach 1,408 kWh per capita.

"With the addition of access to electricity to the community and the use of electronic equipment for community activities, it is hoped that there will be an increase in the number of electricity consumption per capita in Indonesia," said Ida.

For this reason, his party will cooperate with stakeholders in discussions related to the preparation of electrification improvement programs and electricity consumption per capita.

"We hope to get input from stakeholders regarding programs to increase electrification and electricity consumption per capita so that the target according to the Startegis Plan of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources can be achieved," said Ida.

Subkordinator Facilitasi Hubungan Komersial Usaha Ketenagalistrikan Edy Pratiknyo menyatakan bahwa Direktorat Jenderal Ketenagalistrikan mendorong percepatan peningkatan konsumsi listrik.

"With a program to increase electricity consumption, the government encourages through accelerating licensing, we will support it through accelerating licensing for the electricity sector," he said.

EVP of PT PLN's Retail Customer Service (Persero) Munief Budiman stated that PLN is ready to support government programs in increasing electricity consumption through the Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicle (KBLBB) and Electrifying Agriculture programs.

"PLN is present in the development of an agricultural-based populist economy through the ease of electricity supply for agricultural, fishery, agriculture and livestock facilities," said Munief.

He added that until October 2022 the number of Electrifying Agriculture subscribers was 191,783 customers with a total installed power of 3,108.6 MVA and consumption of 4.26 TWh.

In line with this, the Head of Electricity at the East Java ESDM Office, Waziruddin, stated that the East Java Provincial Government also has various efforts to increase electricity consumption, one of which is through the House/House Consultation Program (IR/SR).

He said the grants for the IR/SR Program from the East Java Provincial Government for 2019-2022 were 14,401 poor households.

"In 2022, apart from IR/SR Assistance, the East Java Provincial Government will also provide Electricity Token Assistance worth IDR 300,000 to 19,501 beneficiaries," he continued. Next year, the IR/SR program is targeting 5,200 poor households. Stimulus is also given to electric vehicle owners.

"The imposition of an electric vehicle tax is only 10 percent or gets 90 percent incentives in accordance with East Java Governor Regulation Number 13 of 2021," said Waziruddin.
