The national airline Garuda Indonesia officially operates the Jakarta-Melbourne (pp) route which is served with the Airbus A330-300 fleet.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, said that the re-operation of the Jakarta pp flight route is a form of Garuda Indonesia's ongoing commitment to encourage the recovery of the national tourism sector.

As one of the countries contributing to the largest number of foreign tourist visits for Indonesia, Australia is one of the potential markets for Garuda Indonesia.

"The re-operation of this flight route is expected not only to provide options and convenience for foreign tourists from Australia to visit various exotic destinations in Indonesia, but also to contribute to the acceleration of national tourism recovery," said Irfan in an official statement, Thursday, November 24.

Through the Garuda Indonesia Jakarta-Melbourne pp flight route, tourists will be directly connected to various national leading tourist destinations such as Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Lombok, Pekanbaru, Denpasar, to Jayapura.

Later, flights from Jakarta-Melbourne Garuda Indonesia will operate twice per week, namely every Wednesday and Saturday, with GA-716 departing from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 21:00 LT and arriving at Melbourne Airport the next day at 07:35 LT.

The Melbourne Jakarta flights will depart with GA-717 from Melbourne every Thursday and Sunday at 09:10 LT, and are scheduled to arrive in Jakarta at 12:15 LT.

With the re-operation of the Jakarta-Melbourne pp route, Garuda Indonesia currently serves at least 10 flights to and from Australia per week, where Garuda Indonesia has previously operated flight services Jakarta-Sydney pp twice per week and Denpasar-Sydney pp once per week.

"The operation of the Jakarta - Melbourne pp route is also expected to provide support for improving the quality of Indonesia's superior export products such as maritime products which indirectly also help the economy of fishermen and Indonesian export businesses," concluded Irfan.
