Getting To Know PLN's PDKB Team, Willing To Give Life For Fixed Electricity

Like soldiers who have special units with special combat skills, PT PLN (Persero) also has special forces commanded in high-risk assignments.

Known as the Working Forces Under Voltage (PDKB), this PLN unit is selected people with special skills and competencies.

These troops are trained to maintain, repair, and replace insulators, conductors, and other components on the power grid.

They have special and high risk of working without having to shut down electricity.

Thanks to the hard work of GDP, so far many people have been able to enjoy electricity despite disturbances.

"The PDKB troops are one of the frontlines of PLN in responding to the challenges of meeting quality and sustainable electricity needs," said PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo to the media, Tuesday, November 22.

For this reason, as a special force for PLN, the PDKB team must continue to develop competence and innovation in national electricity management.

One of them is by implementing the PDKB Convention at the PLN Semarang Education and Training Implementation Unit, on November 24-25, 2022.

Darmawan added, after the G20 Summit which took place in Bali, PLN's challenges will be even greater.

For this reason, he hopes that this PDKB convention will further present solidity, a strong team and stick to the value of AKHLAK in PLN.

"As PLN's elite troops, PDKB is the most reliable unit to maintain quality electricity supply. Through this convention accompanied by workshops, I hope our transformation will be more stable," he said.

Although not widely known by the public, PDKB always works professionally. In their hands, the maintenance of electric towers is carried out even with strong electrical current conditions. This is what makes PLN able to provide electricity reliability for customers throughout the country.

There are thousands of PLN personnel who are members of this PDKB special force. They are divided into special works such as PDKB Extra High Voltage, PDKB High Voltage, and PDKB Medium Voltage.

In fact, each of its members has various certifications, including internal PLN certification, international certification from the New Zealand Amaka and the Brazilian Terex Ritz, to the certification of the Director General of Electricity (DJK) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources related to the field and level of competence.

PDKB troops must also prioritize the concept of zero accident or zero accident, comply with SOPs, prioritize work teams, and adhere to work professionalism.

Zulham Arifin, a PLN member who is part of the PLN PDKB Main Unit of the South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and West Sulawesi (UID Sulselrabar) for 10 years, revealed the difficulty of being part of this special force.

According to Zulham, Zulham's work had to risk his life to ensure electricity remained short for the benefit of the wider community.

He also admitted that he was ready to be part of the pioneering transformation of the organization and support sustainable, reliable, and quality energy.

"We are part of the GDP ready to support the transformation of the PLN organization, especially through the annual convention moment in Semarang," he said.

For information, the special force PDKB itself was born on November 10, 1955, which coincided with the commemoration of Hero's Day.

It is not wrong if the spirit of heroism also characterizes the PDKB troops who are ready to take high risks in PLN services, in order to be served by national electricity interests that can be felt by all levels of society.
