JAKARTA The Public Service Agency under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance, namely the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS) in collaboration with the Indonesian Palm Oil Entrepreneurs Association (GAPKI) of North Sumatra and the Nusantara Plantation has just organized the Second Oil Palm Marathon.
The agenda is an annual event in the form of a running competition consisting of four categories, namely 5k, 10k, 21k, and 42k which are held in Sergai Regency, North Sumatra.
Director of Planning and Fund Management for BPDPKS Kabul Wijayanto said that through using the tagline Run for Sustainable Palm, the marathon race wants to bring people closer that palm oil is a sustainable commodity.
"Here we want to show that palm oil also functions to support biodiversity and has social and economic functions," he said in a press statement quoted on Sunday, November 20.
According to Wijayanto, this initiative is the second activity which was previously held in 2019.
"Hopefully this event will become a routine activity every year to promote palm oil and together with this Palm Marathon, we want to convey that palm oil is healthy, palm oil is healthy and palm oil is good," he stressed.
Not only that, this event is also a place to promote processed palm oil MSME products and tourist attractions in Sergai Regency. BPDPKS is ready to support this Palm Marathon Oil so that it can be held in a sustainable manner in 2023.
"Hopefully the Oil Palm Marathon can further introduce palm-derivative MSMEs, help the surrounding community and move the economy of the Sergai Regency," concluded Wijayanto.
