Contributing To The Humanitarian And Handling Sector Of COVID-19, PLN Achieves Award

JAKARTA - PLN received appreciation from the government for its contribution in dealing with humanitarian issues and special awards for the involvement of employees, directors and commissioners in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nusa Dua, 18 November 2022 - The government through the BUMN Foundation for Indonesia gives awards to various parties who are considered to have contributed and played an active role in efforts to deal with humanitarian problems in Indonesia. The government also appreciates the efforts in handling the COVID-19 pandemic so that Indonesia is able to survive and get out of the global crisis caused by this pandemic. In this agenda, PT PLN (Persero) received these two appreciations as well as those received directly by the President Director Darmawan Prasodjo was divided into Hotels, Nusa Dua Bali on Thursday (17/11).

The day after the closing of the G20 summit of Indonesia's presidency in Bali, the BUMN Foundation for Indonesia held the award and appreciation event through the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves), the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), and the Indonesian Intuk BUMN Foundation.

Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (MenpanRB) Abdullah Azwar Anas represented the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said this award was a form of government appreciation to all parties involved in handling the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, including PLN. According to him, the COVID-19 pandemic is a time full of the toughest challenges for all countries including Indonesia.

"So the Humanitarian Award Night is here tonight as a form of government appreciation to all parties who have been involved a lot to help deal with COVID-19 in our country," he said at the BUMN Foundation Humanitarian Award Night event for Indonesia.

The handling of this very good pandemic also affects not only economic recovery, but also world confidence in Indonesia. Thus, Indonesia has the opportunity to be trusted to host the G20 Summit in Bali and get praise from the leaders of the country.

"I wish congratulations and success to ladies and gentlemen who get the award, hopefully the award given is not only a symbolic sign but this can be an example for the community and all of us," he said.

Meanwhile, PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo expressed his gratitude for this award. This award will be used as a whip for him and PLN to continue to provide the best in supporting government programs for the benefit of the community.

PLN has distributed electricity stimulus of IDR 24.23 trillion, which has been budgeted by the government for economic recovery due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Darmawan detailed, throughout 2020, since April the government through PLN distributed IDR 13.15 trillion to 33.02 million customers. For 2021, the budget allocation for electricity stimulus is IDR 11.08 trillion to 31.94 million customers.

The stimulus fund is used by the government through PLN to provide free electricity usage and a 50 percent discount for household customers with 450 Volt Ampere power, 450VA small business and 450 VA small industry. Then also given a 50 percent discount and 25 percent discount for household customers with a subsidized 900 VA power. This electricity discount stimulus is also given to prepaid and postpaid customers.

In addition, PLN also provides exemption from expenses or subscription fees and exemption from the minimum 50 percent account requirement for industrial, business and social customers. Exemption of burden fees, subscriptions, and exemption of minimum account provisions, stimulus will be given automatically by cutting electricity bills for social, business and industrial consumers.

"This stimulus is a form of social protection provided by the government to the community. PLN is tasked with channeling stimulus to the community properly and on target," concluded Darmawan Prasodjo.

It did not stop there, PLN through the Together Recover Indonesia'' program also helped raise humanitarian aid funds during COVID-19. Through PLN Peduli assistance, PLN distributed assistance of Rp. 14.05 billion in the form of personal protective equipment (PPE) and masks, food assistance, medicines and health facilities and infrastructure. PLN employees also donated to collect Rp. 17 billion which was distributed to help residents. Solidarity action was also distributed by the Baitul Maal PLN Foundation worth Rp. 7.77 billion.

PLN also supports the operation of oxygen factories and hospitals by providing reliable electricity. In addition to supporting electricity supply, PLN also provides medical oxygen supplies produced at power plants managed by PLN subholding through PT PLN Indonesia Power and PT PLN Nusantara Power.

"In addition to continuing to maintain the reliability of electricity supply for the community, during the COVID-19 pandemic, PLN is also moving to help the government and society so that Indonesia can recover faster," he said.
