JAKARTA - The Investment Alert Task Force (SWI) revealed that the incident that ensnared IPB students and the community around the campus was a fraud. The mode is under the guise of offering online sales business cooperation in the perpetrator's online store with a commission of 10 percent per transaction.

The head of the Investment Alert Task Force Tongam L. Tobing explained that his party had met with the IPB leadership and a number of students who were victims on Thursday, November 17 and received information about the fraud mode.

According to Tongam, the perpetrator asked students to buy goods at the perpetrator's online shop. If students don't have money, then the perpetrator asks students to borrow online.

"The money from the loan went to the perpetrator, but the goods were not handed over to the buyer, or the purchase was fictitiously from the perpetrator's online shop," Tongam said in his statement, Friday, November 18.

The perpetrator promised to pay the debt installments from the lender, so that students were interested in investing. In its development, the perpetrator did not fulfill his promise to pay the debt installments, so the billiards collect the students as borrowers.

"This case is not a problem with borrowing, but a fraud under the guise of an online store by financing the purchase of goods which turns out to be fictitious goods, but the money flows to the perpetrators," Tongam said.

The Investment Alert Task Force encourages the law enforcement process for these fraudsters and has coordinated with the Bogor Police and the IPB Rectorate for handling this case.

"We will disseminate illegal investments to avoid other victims and convey efforts that can be made to help students who are victims of the fraud," Tongam said.

The public is asked to be aware of illegal investment offers and illogical returns.
