Regarding Petronas Interest In Entering Masela Block, Head Of SKK Migas: Can Cooperate With Pertamina If Allowing

JAKARTA - Head of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) Dwi Soetjipto revealed that the oil and gas company from Malaysia, Petronas, expressed interest in entering and managing the Abadi Field project Blok Masela.

"The soap operas are interested in entering the Masela Block. If possible, they will cooperate with Pertamina in terms of changing Shell," he said in a Hearing Meeting with Commission VII DPR RI, Wednesday, November 16.

Meanwhile, regarding Shell, which will release 35 percent of its participation rights in the Masela block, Dwi said that the first person to receive an offer was Inpex but the negotiation negotiations between Inpex and Shell did not find a way out. So that currently Shell has made an open bid tender of several potential operators who are interested.

On the other hand, he continued, Pertamina is also projected to enter the Masela project to replace Shell after being directed by the government. However, until now Pertamina has not made an offer of non-binding offer.

"Pertamina has conducted a study and this November will convey a non-binding officer to Shell. We are waiting for it," he said.

As for taking over Blok Masela from Shell, Pertamina had to disburse funds of US $ 1.4 billion to acquire 35 percent of Shell's shares.

Just so you know, at the initial POD, Masela's investment value was estimated at 19.8 billion US dollars with an LNG facility capacity of 9.5 Metric Tons Per Annum (MTPA) or the equivalent of 1,600 million cubic feet per day (MMscfd) and piped gas reaching 150 MMscfd.

In addition, the Masela Block is projected to generate a condensate of 35,000 barrels per day.
