JAKARTA PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) has collaborated to distribute foreign currency SP2D (Defense Order) funds or foreign currency through the Treasury and State Budget System (SPAN) together with the Directorate General of Treasury of the Ministry of Finance.

BRI President Director Sunarso said this step made the company the first state-owned bank in Indonesia to run a foreign exchange operational bank (BO).

"The use of BO valas is able to accelerate government satker transactions abroad and can also support the efficiency of transfer fees from every government transaction carried out," he said in a written statement on Monday, October 31.

According to Sunarso, his party is ready to make the government's strategic work successful by optimizing the support of more than 1,000 correspondent banks around the world.

"BRI is confident that it can provide superior services with various conveniences," he said.

He also explained that another advantage of this collaboration is that the work unit (satker) can carry out transactions more quickly, efficiently, and safely because there is no need to raise funds in other countries.

"Thus, the company is optimistic that it can provide excellent service in terms of the system and in terms of costs," he said.

Furthermore, Sunarso revealed, apart from having 9,000 branch offices spread across various regions in Indonesia, BRI is currently operating through the Foreign Work Unit (UKLN) located in Singapore, Taiwan, New York, Timor Leste, Hong Kong and Cayman Island.

Meanwhile, the signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was officially signed by BRI President Director Sunarso with the Director General of Treasury Hadiyanto last weekend in Jakarta.

Through this collaboration, BRI has officially become a banking partner who provides comprehensive services, including distributing APBN funds to government satkers abroad.

This PKS signing is BRI's strategic step in providing more complete, fast, efficient, and reliable services. This is a very large ecosystem so that BRI as one of the largest SOEs will participate in the success of this transformation," Sunarso concluded.
