JAKARTA - Pertamina's Upstream Subholding, through the Eastern Indonesia Region, managed to find gas and condensate contingent resources in the Bojonegoro area, East Java. This finding is the result of drilling the Kolibri exploration well (KOL)-001.

Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) Exploration Director Muharram Jaya Panguriseng said the KOL-001 well drills began on July 3, 2022 and managed to find hydrocarbons in the form of gas and condensates in layer (DST #1) biological tests. Currently, the Eastern Indonesia Region is still monitoring gas flows and condensates from these exploration wells.

The discovery of this resource complements Pertamina's series of Upstream Subholding throughout 2022. Previously, the company had discovered new oil and gas resources resulting from drilling for exploration of the East Gelam 1 River (SGET-1) in Jambi, Manpatu-1X in Mahakam, Wilela-001 on the South Sumatra Onshore, Bajakah-001 on the West Java Onshore, R-2 in the North Sumatra Offshore Block (NSO), the Rotan-1X River in Jambi, Markisa-001 in Papua, and GQX-1 on the North Coast of Java Island.

"We are grateful for the support from all stakeholders and parties involved. Pertamina will continue to explore the potential to find new resources in order to maintain the sustainability of the national upstream oil and gas," explained Muharram in his official statement, Tuesday, October 25.

In exploration strategies, Pertamina's Upstream Subholding has three strategies. Among them, massive and aggressive exploration in the existing Working Area, looking for potential exploration in new areas; as well as partnership strategies.

On a separate occasion, Pertamina's Regional-4 Director of Eastern Indonesia-Subholding Upstream, Endro Hartanto, expressed his hope that Kolibri-001's findings could immediately contribute to efforts to increase gas production for the Eastern Indonesia Regional.

"We will accelerate the business process so that Kolibri-001's findings can soon enter the stage of determining the Exploration Status (PSE) to accelerate monetization of these findings," said Endro.

PHE as Pertamina's Upstream Subholding will continue to develop operational management at home and abroad professionally to realize world-class oil and gas achievements.

PHE has been registered with the United Nations Global Compat (UNGC) as a participant/member since June 2022. PHE is committed to the Ten Universal Principles or Ten Principles of the UNC in its strategy and operations, as part of implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects.

PHE will continue to develop operating management at home and abroad professionally to realize the achievement of becoming an environmentally friendly, socially responsible and good governance world-class oil and gas company.
