YOGYAKARTA - Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin will provide free medicine to all patients with acute kidney failure.

The drug to be given is antidotum Fomepizole injection for people with a progressive atypical acute kidney failure or AKI.

The development of acute kidney failure cases as of October 24, which found 255 cases originating from 26 provinces. Of this number, the death rate was recorded at 56 percent or as many as 143 cases died.

The government continues to accelerate the import of acute kidney failure drugs so that they can immediately arrive in Indonesia.

The drug will later be distributed directly to the Indonesian government referral hospital.

Indonesia Imports of Acute Manufactured Medicines from Four Countries

The Ministry of Health revealed that there were 36 vials of kidney disorders imported by Indonesia.

A total of 20 vials of drug fomepizole were purchased from Singapore and 16 vials from Australia.

In addition, the government is also buying 200 pharmaciole drugs from the United States and Japan vials.

The addition was made because the existing stock was still not sufficient for the treatment needs of acute kidney failure patients.

"There are around 2,000 vials from Japan. Now there are around 200-500 vials in the hospital," said the Minister of Health at the Bogor Palace in the official channel of the Presidential Secretariat, Monday (24/10).

The Price of Accountable Acute kidney failures that Indonesia imports

The price of acute kidney failure drugs purchased by Indonesia from Singapore and Australia reached IDR 16 million.

The government has suspended the cost of purchasing the drug with a total disbursement of 3.2 trillion.

Per vial the injection of the Simepizole drug is only intended for one patient, with an injection dose of 1.5 grams or 1.5 ml.

"For the price, per 1 vial is Rp. 16 million," said Minister Budi Gunadi.

Budi Gunadi Sadikit revealed the reason the government chose Fomepizol as a drug for people with acute kidney failure or MMR. The drug Fomepizol has a high level of efficacy compared to other drugs.

Furthermore, he said one patient needed five vials. Drug consumption is carried out in stages during the treatment period. Based on the calculation of all patients, the number of drugs needed is 330 vials.

Budi said that the administration of Fomepizole to patients with acute kidney failure proved to have a positive impact.

Of the 10 patients who have consumed Fomepizole, 7 patients are starting to improve.

Patients have started to urine and experience increased consciousness.

Unlike the previous conditions, where the patient did not urinate because the volume of urine decreased drastically and the level of consciousness decreased.

Budi reminded that it is quite difficult for people with acute kidney failure who have entered stage three to cure.

The patient's kidney condition is very damaged and does not release urine at all.
