Pursuing 24 Percent Natural Gas Mix Target by 2050, Pertagas and PGN Digital Integration for Business Unification

JAKARTA - Director of Engineering and Operations of PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), Rosa Permata Sari, said digital integration accelerates business unification between Pertagas and PT Pertamina Gas Negara Tbk (PGN).

Rosa explained, to achieve the natural gas energy mix target of 24 percent, Pertagas and PGN as Pertamina's Gas Sub Holding made joint innovations to manage the gas transmission business in Indonesia.

The General National Energy Plan (RUEN) sets a target for the natural gas energy mix of 24 percent by 2050, compared to the current 19.3 percent.

"Of the total gas infrastructure in Indonesia, 96 percent or 12,587 km are assets of Pertagas and PGN. Digital transformation is very important to carry out business processes that are more efficient, fast in attracting new consumers, and able to map unmet demand", Rosa said in her statement quoted by Antara, Monday, October 24.

In 2021, Pertagas and PGN will be able to transport more than 1,352 MMscfd of gas and sell 828 Bbtud of gas to more than 460 thousand customers.

The collaboration between Pertagas and PGN gave birth to the SIPGas innovation, which is an oil and gas management system that has proven to be an enabler and able to accelerate the integration of infrastructure and natural gas distribution between PGN and Pertagas.

Including improving the quality of Pertagas services in meeting customer data needs, and at the same time providing added value in optimizing natural gas distribution at Pertamina Gas Sub Holdings as part of the energy transition in Indonesia.

This SIPGas shared-service innovation is a solution to the Pertagas information system, which was previously still local in every area of operation. SIPGas which has digital advantages and data integration provides solutions for monitoring, reporting, and billing processes as well as data fulfillment to customers.

The presence of SIPGas answers the challenge of digitization with the ability to monitor distribution volume data that is integrated with real-time data collection and daily data validation, said Rosa.

Through the integration of SIPGas between PGN-Pertagas, according to her, a joint dashboard can be built on one platform so that if there is a surplus of natural gas in one location, it can be immediately distributed to other locations experiencing a natural gas deficit. This can answer the challenge of increasing the natural gas energy mix in Indonesia, and of course, increasing the utilization of natural gas transportation pipelines.
