The Ministry of Transportation Asks All Stakeholders to Support Efforts to Improve Logistics Efficiency

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Directorate General of Sea Transportation asks all stakeholders to support efforts to improve logistics efficiency through the integration of national marine services.

"The existence of standardized excellent service quality in marine services throughout Indonesia will provide efficiency benefits to the logistics business process in Indonesia," said Director General of Sea Transportation Arif Toha in a statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday, October 17.

Arif said, the Directorate General of Sea Transportation has set a policy direction for the development of sea transportation in 2020-2024, especially in supporting maritime connectivity of the archipelago, with more emphasis on realizing maritime logistics and increasing shipping connectivity.

He said this step was one of the efforts to realize Indonesia as a world maritime axis that must be supported by all relevant stakeholders.

In addition, Director General Arif also asked all parties to continue to increase collaboration and synergy in advancing sea transportation in Indonesia.

The efficiency value achieved from collaboration and integration will benefit logistics business players in the national maritime industry.

Then the benefits of efficiency will also be felt by the people of Indonesia in the form of more stable and more affordable prices for various commodities in both western and eastern Indonesia.

"To realize this, the Ministry of Transportation also continues to strive to improve connectivity and reduce price disparities through the sea toll program which has been started from 2015 until now," he said.

Furthermore, he conveyed, by 2022, 33 sea toll routes have been running by providing various ease of use utilizing digitalization and information technology through the "SITOLAUT" application.

In addition to the sea toll program, the Ministry of Transportation also organizes PSO Pelni with 26 routes, pioneering transportation with 117 routes and cattle ships with 6 routes.

"However, we must realize that we are still faced with various challenges. For example, the limited state budget and the low participation of the private sector are one of the challenges we face," he said.

Arif also invites all parties to continue to innovate and increase creativity in providing services, including in realizing a Green Port or an environmentally friendly port.

In order to realize a Green Port, one of the alternatives that can be used at ports in reducing emission levels at ports is through the application of On-Shore Power Supply (OPS).

Furthermore, to support the G20 which has the goal of realizing strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive global growth, the implementation of On-Shore Power Supply is expected to be one of the breakthroughs to tackle environmental issues that are the focus of the G20 related to climate change and global energy. .

"This will create an environmentally friendly port that can not only ensure the smooth flow of goods but also has an important role in preserving the maritime environment," he said.
