JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono reminded contractors and project supervision consultants to prioritize aspects of quality, environmental sustainability, and aesthetics in building dams.
"The supervisory consultant must be able to carry out its supervisory function well because it has an important role as a representative project owner. The implementing contractor must also have the essence of enthusiasm or enthusiasm to maintain the quality of his work," Minister Basuki said in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Saturday, October 15.
Basuki conveyed this when he visited the Tiu Sunuk Dam, Beringin Sila Dam, and the Bano Star Irrigation Area (DI) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Friday, October 14.
For aesthetic and environmental aspects, Basuki asked the implementing contractor to optimize reforestation, especially on cliffs around the dam.
"Be careful not to leave the cliffs naked, everything must be planted. If you can put on the sprinklers as well so that the cliffs don't dry," said Basuki.
The Tiu Suku Dam and Beringin Sila Dam are part of 6 National Strategic Project (PSN) dams built in NTB to support national water security and food security.
Tiu Suku Dam, which is located in West Sumbawa, was built since February 2020 at a cost of Rp1.22 trillion and is targeted for completion in December 2023. The construction of Tiu S to be carried out in two packages where the progress of Package I currently reaches 76.47 percent, while the progress of Package II reaches 45.78 percent.
The construction of the Beringin Sila Dam, which is located in Sumbawa, has been carried out since January 2019 at a cost of IDR 1.66 trillion. Currently, the physical progress of the construction has reached 92.60 percent for package I and 96.05 percent for package II with a target of completion in December 2022.
The Bano Star Irrigation Area (DI) covering an area of 4,200 hectares is intended to channel water from the Bano Star Dam. The average DI Bintang Bano realization for all packages currently reaches 55.5 percent and is targeted for completion in 2023.
"I ask that all networks and dams be completed in August 2023 so that they can function to supply water to the community's fields," said Basuki.
